R VERSION (of Hip Hop) was assembled in 2014 out of a love for music as well as a sense of responsibility to continue a tradition. Hip Hop music has played an essential role in the advancement of American culture and our goal is to continue the tradition in which it was founded. It is rare these days to hear new music that contains meaning, soul, and funkiness in general, and R Version was formed to uphold this standard in Hip Hop music that many of us have grown to love since its birth. To conform is to abandon your true roots and accept the status quo, a stigma that too many new artists are adopting in order to meet the demands of mainstream hip hop culture and media. We believe that it is possible to be true to yourself and still be mainstream, to be different but still be liked, to be independent but still be popular. We set out in creating a group where each member was focused on expressing themselves based on our own personal beliefs and not those in popular demand. A group that is comfortable with breaking the status quo and realizing our own self truths thru music as an expression of how we feel, not what others want to hear. Our sound is unique to us, and every song we write is a manifestation of our thoughts and lives, put down on paper and sung thru a microphone for our own enjoyment as well as the enjoyment of our listeners. Shout out to all of our fans and loved ones, thank you for all your support. To everyone else, just open your ears and listen.
