Pick your poison- Toluene

What is Toluene?

Toluene is a common solvent, e.g. for paints, paint thinners, silicone sealants, many chemical reactants, rubber, printing ink, adhesives (glues), lacquers, leather tanners, and disinfectants. Toluene can be used as an octane booster in gasoline fuels used in internal combustion engines.

How are you consuming this? Toluene is created in the distillation process naturally in wine and spirits. The EPA considers that there is inadequate information to assess the carcinogenic potential of toluene however, exposure to toluene in low to moderate levels can cause tiredness, confusion, weakness, drunken-type actions, memory loss, nausea, loss of appetite, and hearing and color vision loss. When tested on rodents, toluene has been shown to display antidepressant-like effects.

The BooZi significantly reduces the presence of toluene and other congeners when placed in your spirits for 24-48 hours before consumption while keeping the specific gravity of your alcohol intact. This is one of many of the impurities you consume when drinking that will give you those hangover symptoms.
